Boat & RV Accessories can help you find the best places for spring camping - and the surprising part is that they are not too far away from you.
We can make that claim confidently, without even knowing where you live in the U.S. The reason is simple: Great camping spots can be found virtually anywhere you can get out of an urban environment. So why wait until summer?
We know of many campers who wait until autumn to take their trips, so they can enjoy the changing of the leaves. But leaves returning to trees are just as much of a color change - we love seeing brown turn into green. A spring camping trip can help shake off the winter blues and get you excited about nature warming up.
So look around where you live: Check a 4- to 6-hour radius around your hometown, or check nearby state's conservation departments for camping ideas, then plan your trip accordingly. The spring season will give you a lot of advantages over the summer tourism season.
Gorgeous skies
Spring hovers around an equinox, when the days and nights are about equal length. Compared to the summer, sunrise happens later and sunset happens earlier. That means you'll be able to enjoy more sunrises and sunsets.
The night sky will still be outstanding for viewing, as well. Temperatures will still get chilly when the sun goes down, so there won't be as much residual heat in the atmosphere. Combine that with how the spring sky features large constellations such as Leo and Hydra, and you'll have a wonderful night of stargazing.
Pests are no problem
Bugs won't be as much of an issue during spring. Don't leave the repellents at home, however - mosquitoes can still be present in warmer, wetter areas, and ticks are an issue as soon as snow melts. But their populations won't be as bad during the spring as they will in summer. This is a good time to try oceanside or lakeside camping.
Best birdwatching
Birds are busy during the spring - so busy that they will risk being seen in order to build their nests or find food. That means you can enjoy their activity and music. And if they are nesting in trees that haven't regrown leaves yet, they will be much easier to watch.
Minimal crowds
If you like camping in solitude, you're going to love spring camping. Many sites won't be anywhere near capacity, which means you'll be able to stretch out and enjoy your environment without having to share.
Pleasant temperatures
This one comes with a bit of caution: Be prepared for wild weather swings, as well as windy days. But in the spring, you won't have to deal with excessive, comfortable heat. The temperatures should be pretty wonderful for a wide variety of outdoor activities. Additionally, those moderate temperatures will make it easier to enjoy more challenging activities, such as biking, adventurous hiking or rock climbing.
Less traffic
Because you are not in the tourism season, springtime traffic makes driving RVs or towing boats much easier. You won't wait in long lines at public access points or docks, and you'll be able to drive most roads at your leisure.
