Description
Sterling Power Pro Charge Ultra Plus 32 Volt, 20 Amp, 3 Bank Marine Battery Charger PCU3220plus
This product replaces PCU3220
Second generation updated line of Marine Grade, Power Factor Corrected Battery Chargers set a new standard of what you should expect from your battery charger when it comes to features, performance & price. Years of experience in the battery charging industry has provided the insight to include everything we could possibly think of and combine it all into the ProCharge Ultra Plus line of feature rich, high performance marine grade battery chargers. This exceptionally efficient power factor corrected battery charger runs on any Global AC Power source between 80-270 volts, requires less input power, produces less heat and noise waste, while still retaining a remarkably small, lightweight footprint. Did we mention Eleven pre-programmed battery charging curves as well as 4 user customizable battery profile for Lead Acid or Lithium Batteries? Adjust absorption time and custom set charge, float voltages and ) DegC temp trip protection. Optional BMS signal & optinal positive signal feed to bring all the custom settings you need to your next project. The digital dispaly allows easy checking of real time voltage or current output on the face of the charger or use the optinonal multi-lingual remote control that can be either surface, recess, or flush mounted over 30 feet away from the battery charger.
The ProCharge Ultra has been recently Updated to a 2nd Generation. The ProCharge Ultra Plus has a few new features:
The Auxiliary control cable allows for 2 things:
BMS shut down, if the red cable is grounded to 0V the PCU stops charging - in operation the red cable sits at 12V. So, if someone has a BMS that sends a ground signal then this can be used. If the BMS sends a positive signal a relay is required between the red and black wire
(i.e. short pos and neg to turn PCU off)
The purple cable is not really for battery charging at all - it is for a signal to turn something on. Notably a PSR, for example, you would feed the purple cable to the PSR to turn the PSR on to allow for the PCU to charge up all the batteries within a system using all of the pre-existing cable / fuses to save having to re-run new cabling. Also, if people don’t wish for a BB to turn on, they can feed that purple cable in to BMS port on the BB Ultra (for example).
Other new PCU differences:
Custom lithium charging profiles, as lithium batteries are newish to the market, there is all sorts of opinions about charge voltages and absorption time lengths. Here you can just customise absorption, float and absorption time length.
- 11 pre-programmed battery curves including: Open/Sealed lead acid, AGM, Gel, LiFePO4.
- 1 custom set, can be set from charger, unlike our competitors there is no need for a computer to do this operation, all can be done from the front panel.
- 2 x digital meters for current and voltage measurement and a 32 LED information display.
- 1 x power meter to show what reserve power left in the unit.
- PFC, active, up to 0.99 PF, ensuring efficient power conversion, up to almost 90% as opposed to about 60% for older, non-PFC technology.
- % power reduction to allow unit to work with restricted power available (available on local control or remote control panel).
- De-sulphation auto cycle built in to software.
- New, low activity, standby mode to increase battery life.Battery health program every 7-10 days .
- Multiple speed fan control. This reduces unnecessary fan noise experienced by the customer, even though the new extreme efficiency reduces the need for fans.
- At high ambient temperatures (40-50 deg C), however, fans would still be required to ensure operation.
- Primary (processor digitally controlled) and an emergency backup secondary (analogue controlled) high voltage trip.
- 32 LED information panel to ensure maximum information transmitted to owner.
- Internal scan and systems check to ensure product is okay.
- Remote control option.
- Small footprint and light weight.
- Include battery temperature sensor to give temperature compensation and high temp trip.
- As with all our marine chargers all metals used are non-ferrous or heavily protected, so no corrosion.
- New synchronized rectification output as opposed to diode output, giving up to an extra 9% efficiency.
- Conforms to ABYC drip test, is waterproof from water directly dropped on to the top of the unit (+/ - 17 deg) if installed correctly (vertically).
- Thermostatically controlled force draft cooling.
- The printed circuit boards are conformal coated for high humidity and salt air operations.
